My Story
Pedro “Pete” Roybal was born and raised in East Denver. He joined the U.S. Army after
graduation, receiving a high security clearance completing his basic training in Ft. Leonard Wood, Mo.
Over the next 21 years of military service, Roybal served and completed military assignments

Roybal married wife and they have not only 4 children. Toward the end of
his military career, Roybal established a facilities maintenance company called Roybal Maintenence &
Company. Many years before becoming a member of Lakewood’s City council, Roybal was so involved
in the community, that many of his neighbors and friends suggested he run for city council. After many
years of introspective thinking, In 2011, Roybal finally decided to run, in Ward 3, despite all the doubt,
mudslinging, and even threats he won with 43 percent of the vote which made the first Latino male city
councilor in the City of Lakewood and served his community for 8 years.
